Hey, there’s no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow…only a pile of @#$%

This was not just another rainy day in Portland. For a brief moment, the rain gods decided to have mercy & filled the sky with rainbows in every direction. And not just a quick, oh look there’s a rainbow. These were full fledged rainbows that spanned the entire sky.

I grabbed my camera and ran outside with my 4 year-old son. There were too many trees in the front yard to get a clear view of the sky, so I ran into the backyard hoping to get at least one photo.

As I’m trying to frame the shot, my son says

“Mom, I think you’re standing in poop.”

I looked down at my feet and sure enough, I was standing shit.

Whistler Interpretive Forest: Mountain Biker’s Heaven

I recently returned from a trip to Whistler, Canada where I spent a week exploring the dirt trails on my mountain bike. This is home of serious mountain biking. I was prepared to get dirty and hoping to acquire a few “war wounds” along the way to prove my worthiness.

What I did get was an amazing insight to the lush landscapes and hardcore trails of Whistler. My riding companions were lucky (or unlucky?) enough to experience a black bear, up close & personal. No harm given or received! And no, they didn’t stick around to “feed the bear”.

Urban Graffiti

Today was full of inspiration. Spent the day along Hwy 30, taking photos of trains & graffiti.

Found this amazing street art on the siding of a building just on the outskirts of NE Portland.

Miami Beach…a little piece of heaven

I finally made it out the beach today. Between the intense sun and sweltering humidity, I opted to wait until early evening to take advantage of the white sand beach & 70 degree water (ahhh- super salty sea water!) About a half hour before I went outside, I could see dark, luminous clouds approaching, with thunder following. No rain - yet. So I decided to brave it & made my spot on the sand and jumped in the water. HEAVEN. Made me think about my surfing days back in Santa Cruz (much colder water). I would’ve stayed out there for hours. When you float on your back & submerge your ears, all you can hear is the sound of the ocean. Everything is blocked out. What a feeling. Life is good.
